THE PIG AND THE LADY
FOOD TRUCK
AT THE SONY OPEN IN HAWAII
Seems like each year a food vendor shows up at the Sony Open only not to be seen again. Last year there were Korean Taco's and Giovanni Pastrami tents. Both are gone this year but a new one emerged as one of my favorites. The Pig and the Lady served up some delicious Vietnamese Sandwiches and Carne Asada Tacos from a small truck parked near the concessions area near hole #17. This food was fresh and delicious. The Carne Asada Tacos ($5) were small street style tacos like you would eat roadside in Tijuana, Mexico. They doubled up on the tortillas but I found that I could eat the taco with one tortilla without it falling apart. I liked the meat, fresh onion and cilantro. Came together nicely with the hot sauce and lime. Great little tacos for Hawaii. I went back the next day and had two more. The Saigon Banh Mi Sandwich ($8) was another happy surprise. The sandwich not only looked good but tasted great. Filled with fresh pickled daikon, carrot and cilantro and a perfectly cooked egg that exploded onto the bun. This sandwich was good. Really good. When I went back the second day, the tacos were still being served but the Vietnamese food was gone in place of unreal looking Sliders. We enjoyed some more tacos but did not have room for the sliders. Really wish I had tried them. Looked amazing. This is a really good food truck that uses top quality local ingredients. Kind of a farm to table attitude I was told.
