Loved spending a day at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. This private club is legendary in woman's golf for being the home of the Kraft Nabisco Championship which is a Major on the LPGA tour. I can remember my earlier years watching Dinah Shore host this Championship and always wanting to visit Poppie's Pond where the winner of the tournament jumps into the water after coming off the 18th hole. Most of golf's most famous women golfers have taken a dip in Poppie's Pond. While I did not jump into the pond, I did play a round of golf on the Pete Dye Challenge Course because all of the other courses were closed for re-seeding. Also enjoyed a terrific lunch and dinner at the Clubhouse. For lunch I had a great bowl of Chili and a Wedge Salad. Probably the second best Wedge Salad I have ever tasted. Chili was excellent too. We were so relaxed and comfortable at Mission Hills that we decided to stay for dinner as they were having an Italian Buffet in the dining room. The food on this night was amazing. Great Spaghetti and Meatballs. The Meatballs were some of the best I have ever tasted at any Italian restaurant. The sauce was equally good. They had a create your own pizza bar so I went with my favorite of Pepperoni, Onions and Jalapeño. The crust, sauce and toppings were all delicious. I was in Italian heaven with my glass of vino and good friends. Truly a great dinner. Love it!
