We traveled from Naples along the beautiful cliffs of Amalfi Drive on a narrow road above the Tyrrhenian Sea to find Sorrento. Our goal here was to find the best authentic Neapolitan Pizza and enjoy a relaxing lunch amongst the locals. What we found was Divina Sorrento on a main road filled with tourists. The place was small but clean. One waitress and one cook with a nice pizza oven that we could see from our table. We ordered our standard Pizza Margherita (4 Euro) and Pizza Biancaneve (6 Euro). Took a bit of time to get our order as the cook seemed to be working in slow motion. Seemed he liked to cook only one tables order at a time so he would make the pizzas for one table and then place them in the oven and wait until they were finished before moving on to the next order. I enjoyed a cold beer while waiting and observed the other diners as they ate. Our pizzas finally arrived and we were excited to have our first bite of pizza in Sorrento, Italy. I went straight for the Margherita with the gooey cheese, tomato sauce and basil. I took a bite. Chewed and savored the flavors of all the ingredients and then realized that this pizza sucked. Absolutely the worst pizza ever posted on this blog. It was simply uneatable. The cheese and sauce were terrible. I then tried the Pizza Biancaneve with mushrooms and ham. Even worse. It was gross. The entire family took a few nibbles and threw in the towel. We left two almost whole pizzas on the table, paid the bill and walked out. How can this be with thought. We are in Sorrento. What to do? Well we walked through the streets and found another Pizzeria in Sorrento.
