Loved our visit to Wrangler's Steakhouse in the little town of Waimea on the Island of Kauai. This place has a western theme that reminds me of Waimea on the Big Island. The restaurant is open air and they have a great deck that goes along the front of the building. Make a reservation in advance on the weekends if you want to sit out on the deck. The staff here is friendly and I loved the little bar that is adjacent to the restaurant. I went in for a cold beer while we waited for our table and did not want to leave after sitting in a big leather chair in the corner. The employees in the bar were very friendly and made us feel comfortable and welcome. You can order some great burgers in the bar and they use 100% Kauai beef. Our dinner at Wrangler's was excellent. Started with the Soup and Salad Bar that is included with your entree. Loved the Papaya Seed Salad Dressing and the Corn and Clam Chowder. While the Chowder was a bit greasy, the entire family loved the flavor and nice pieces of Clams and Bacon in the soup. I could have made a meal of the Soup and Salad here and been very happy. We ordered the fresh Sashimi and were not disappointed. The raw tuna was bright red and glistening with freshness. The fish melted in your mouth and did not need any Shoyu or Wasabi to add flavor. This is the kind of Sashimi you expect in Hawaii. Simple and fresh. Awesome! I ordered the Filet Mignon ($34) and it was fantastic. Cooked to a perfect medium rare and seasoned the way a steak should be. Enough salt and pepper to bring out the flavor of the beef. Served with some really good garlic mashed potatoes. My lovely bride ordered the Rib Eye ($28) and shared it with my Daughter. My Daughter had no complaints but my Wife decided my steak was better and she took more than half of it. Ok by me because I was already full on the Salad and Sashimi. We did not order dessert here but they all looked amazing. The Peach Cobbler was a big hit at the table next to us and the Mud Pie looked amazing. This was a very relaxing dinner and we all enjoyed the food.
