It has been awhile since we have visited P.F. Chang's so I thought we would give it a try while in Waikiki over the Holidays. The restaurant is located on the bottom level of the Royal Hawaii Center on the corner of Lewers Street. There is indoor and outdoor seating with the outdoor having nice views of people walking up and down Lewers. We sat outside and enjoyed the warm Hawaii weather on a day that was on and off overcast. Started by ordering the Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wraps ($12.99). Wok seared chicken, mushrooms, green onion and water chestnuts served over crispy puffed rice sticks. There was a good amount of lettuce for these wraps and it was cold and crisp. This really makes the dish. Next up were the Hand Folded Crab Wontons ($11.99). These were nice looking but missed the mark on flavor. There is just too much fried wonton compared to the amount of crab filling. The Spicy Plum sauce was not spicy at all and intact was pretty weak in the flavor department. The Beef Broccoli ($19.50) was delicious but I thought it was expensive. For this price they could have added a bit more Broccoli we thought. Flavor was good and I would order this dish again. The Chang's Kung Pao Chicken ($18.99) was terrible. The large chunks of chicken were breaded in something and very dry. Totally missed the mark of texture and flavor. Paying almost twenty bucks for chicken nuggets served with celery did not sit well with me. The dish also had no heat and very little flavor. My daughter took one bite and said she did not want anymore. My feeling was the same. I thought this was an expensive meal and left unsatisfied thinking that I will never return to P.F. Chang's.
