RAMEN IN TOKYO
TOKYO, JAPAN
We were walking around our hotel in search of a bowl of Ramen for breakfast. I was craving a bowl before we left Tokyo but finding a Ramen shop open before 11:00 am on a weekend proved difficult. We walked for at least an hour through the small narrow streets off the main road. Loved the walk because we were able to see so much just causing the streets in the early am. This is one of my favorite things to do in Japan - just walk. Just walk around and take in the people, architecture, buildings, culture and food. We were about to give up and have meat for breakfast as there were a lot of grilled meat restaurants in this area. As we worked our way back towards our hotel we saw a sign across the street that read "Ramen". Thats it we were in. There was a man sweeping the floor in front of the sign and we asked if they were open. He waved us in with a hand gesture. Turns out he was the cook and his Wife ran the front of the house. Small two person operation. They both were all smiles and friendly as we were the only people in the restaurant at about 9:30 am. We sat down and water and menus were delivered in seconds. Not much choice on the menu. One item. Ramen, Rice and Bean Sprouts. Served with a cold tea. We ordered hot tea too. Ramen was absolutely delicious. My Wife loved the egg so much that she ordered another one. This was a really good breakfast that was filling and satisfying.
