Enjoyed a pleasant meal and drinks at The Tavern which is located just off the lobby of The Holly Hotel at Pinehurst. Loved the old time feel of the lobby and restaurant. Food and service were both excellent. They make fresh homemade Potato Chips here that are delicious and addicting. I pretty much filled up on them before my dinner and could not finish even half of my meal. Started with the Shrimp Cocktail which was unlike any Shrimp Cocktail I have had before. Served with Tortilla Chips. Different but the Shrimp was good. Next up was Chicken Fried Chicken. A take on Chicken Fried Steak I guess. Everything on the plate was delicious. Hands down the best Collard Greens I have ever tasted. A bit sweet but tart with a splash of vinegar and lots of Bacon. Yummy. Chicken was moist and flavorful with a nice crunch. Potatoes with Black Pepper Gravy was also very good.
No complaints here except I could not eat it all.
