AZAMARA PURSUIT
Enjoyed our cruise on the Azamara Pursuit. With a crew of over 400 and only around 380 passengers on this voyage, the service was excellent. Seemed like most of the staff knew us by first and last name, remembered our drink preferences and treated us like royalty. Loved the staff on this ship. Top notch in service and great attitude. The ship is comfortable and clean and the cabin service was excellent. Food in the specialty restaurants
(Prime C Steakhouse and Aqualina Italian) was excellent. We did not however like the food in the Windows Cafe where they serve daily breakfast, lunch and dinner. While there was always a wide variety, we just didn't like the preparations or flavors of most dishes. Also found the breads, pastries and desserts to be the worst of any cruise we have ever taken. We enjoyed a few snacks and meals at The Patio and found this to be a comfortable dining option. The Burgers however sucked and the meat didn't taste like any kind of beef I have ever eaten.
I think our only complaint about the entire cruise was the food. Did like the fact that beer and wine are included pretty much 24/7 on the ship. Room service menu was not bad and the breakfasts in our stateroom were really good. We also saw several shows and enjoyed the entertainment. Our cruise included ports in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Richards Bay. They also made a stop in Mozambique but we were not allowed to go ashore due to safety concerns and the quality of tours. Wish there were less sea days and more stops. The most interesting part of the cruise is that we did not get our luggage until 10 days after we arrived in Cape Town. We had to rush to the mall in Cape Town upon arrival and desperately try to find some clothes for the cruise. I bought a pair of black pants that were 5" too long and folded them up. Also bought a cheap pair of dress shoes, t-shirts, underwear, socks, shorts, shirts and toiletries. Amazed to find how little you really need for a cruise if you really don't care about what you are wearing. The entire staff on the Azamara Pursuit should be applauded for their great service and super kind attitude.
