Oops I did it again! Picked a big name restaurant and went for the Grand Tasting Menu. My Wife says that she has never liked these type of expensive meals and to never take her to one again. After this meal, I would tend to agree. At $295 per person this is big money and to leave unsatisfied is a total disappointment. Service was good at times and at other times the wait staff would literally run by our table, drop the dish and tell you what it was while they were moving to the next table. Sometimes we had no idea what they were saying. I requested the Sommelier to pick a bottle of Spanish wine and she selected an excellent bottle that pushed this meal over $1000 for two. My Wife was not happy. Hey, I told her this is once in a lifetime and I would always be thinking of missing it if we didn't try. The Cotton Candy Foie Gras started the meal with hope. Small piece of delicious and cold Foie Gras wrapped in sweet Cotton Candy. Nice bite. Shrimp Cocktail was good but nothing special. The Olives tasted like Olives and the Modern version was unique and pretty good. It was like an Olive shot. The Caviar Cone was delicious and I could have eaten a dozen of them. Not a fan of any food with gold leaf though and think it is totally unnecessary. The Caprese Salad was delicious with every component popping with flavor. Loved it! The Bison Buffalo Style was pretty basic and did not impress. What did impress was the Jamon Iberia de Belotta which was melt in your mouth perfection. Loved it. The Sobrasada Toast was a nice change up and I liked the Toast. The Classic Tartare was nothing special but the Beefsteak Tomato Tartare was amazing. Loved it! The Japanese Wagyu Beef which was cooked table side was just ok. I have eaten Wagyu in Japan that had much more flavor. The Washyugyu Ribeye which I failed to photograph was good, but I would take a Ruth's Chris Filet over it anytime. Grilled Asparagus and Seasonal Mushrooms were ok but the winner here was the Buttered Potato Puree. Winner! Desserts totally did not hit the spot. To get a Puff and a Tart at a $295 dinner was a joke. Tasted like buffet desserts. Hey, this is just my opinion as I call as I eat em. I respect and love Chef Jose Andres and wish we would have had a better experience.
