TRAIN IN CONCERT

RITZ-CARLTON KAPALUA, MAUI

We were enjoying some cocktails in the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua during the Hyundai Tournament of Champions Golf Tournament.  My friend went outside to take a smoke break and returned saying that the music group Train was doing a private concert for Hyundai and their guests.  I said lets hit it and see if we can sneak in and enjoy the show.  We walked around the front of the hotel where there is a huge indoor/outdoor ballroom.  The band was playing and we could see them in the distance.  The large doors to the outside were open so the sound was pretty good from outside the venue.  I was wearing my golf shorts and visor while most guests in the ballroom were decked out in cocktail dresses and suits.  I was standing by a roped off entrance when a lady in a black pantsuit approached me.  She was carrying a clipboard and looked kind of official.  I gave her a smile and said "howzit".  She smiled and asked if we would like to join the party and come inside.  "hell yes" I replied and she escorted us through the large doors into the ballroom.  As soon as we entered three or four guys in suits asked us for our credentials multiple times.  Each time I pointed at the lady and said we were invited by her.  We were in and headed directly to the bar which was hosted.  This means all drinks were free.  We grabbed glasses of vino and headed for the front row where I danced to the tunes and recorded the videos below.  We ended up closing down the joint with the owner of the company that provided all the tables, chairs and decorations for the ballroom.  Great guy who had us laughing and drinking for hours after the band had gone home.  Great unexpected evening in Kapalua!
