LUNCH IN WAIMANALO
We took a Sunday drive over to Waimanalo to support a friend that is raising money to send local kids to a boxing competition in Texas. The FourOne Boxing Club out of Waimanalo is made up of all local kids from the neighborhood that come from low income and broken families. My friend Kaui Kauhi took over 20 of them in and trains them daily on boxing, life, integrity and commitment to hard work. Without this boxing club, many would end up in trouble, jail or homeless. Some of the kids stay at Kaui's home all day and night. His Wife works tirelessly to make sure the kids get three meals a day and the support they need to make something of their lives. To see the incredible transformation of these kids physically and mentally is both amazing and heartwarming. Kaui gives his time and money to support the boxing club along with his many friends, local businesses and people like Chef Fat Ram who cooks meals to help raise money. Fat Ram is the real deal who spent time working at Roy's and other top notch restaurants in Hawaii. Fat Ram works for free and he is ALWAYS there for the kids when needed. To see him and Kaui work so hard and give everything to the kids brings joy to my heart and makes me want to give and do more. On this day we made a donation and bought several of the Prime Rib Loco Moco's and Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches. Fat Ram cooks a mean Prime Rib and the portions he serves are huge. I asked for my Cheesesteak to be made with no bread so he made it Protein Style wrapped in Cheese.
